To support new members in understanding and navigating the peering and interconnection ecosystem, GR-IX has integrated the Euro-IX Peering Toolbox into its website. This community-led project by the European Internet Exchange Association (Euro-IX), provides essential resources and best practices for network operators who want to learn the steps necessary to establish peering with other infrastructure operators.
The site is a work-in-progress so the content will be updated frequently. The plan is to offer content for Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced users. At the moment, the toolkit has readily available only the Beginners section, with the other two versions in the making.
In this Beginners section, you can find information on topics ranging from Interconnections, the Importance of Peering, Where to Peer, What is Required for Peering, to What is Required for Establishing Peering.
Access to the toolbox can be obtained by navigating to the “Tools” section of the GR-IX toolbar and proceeding to the end of the submenu to the “Euro-IX Peering Toolbox.” For an enhanced user experience, three submenus are available: “About Euro-IX Peering Toolbox,” “Glossary of Terms,” and “Subject Index”.
Learn the basics of how network operators interconnect with each other to create the Internet. Don’t hesitate to contact the Peering Toolbox team at peeringtoolbox@lists.euro-ix.net should you have any questions.
